President's Message
To The Members of Chapter 73:
I hope that you are all enjoying the beginning of summer. Although, some would argue that in Wisconsin, summer is reduced to a 90 day period at best. We can certainly enjoy whatever summer is granted to us, knowing that winter is lurking around the corner. The good news is that beer is meant to be drunk during all four seasons. How is that for a typical SF attitude??
Thank you for the members who attended the 15 May meeting at Camp Grant in Rockford, Illinois. Regardless of where the meeting is held, our members always enjoy the social nature of our Chapter. This was very evident at our most recent meeting. We had an opportunity to inspect military artifacts from World Wars I and II collected from Camp Grant. I believe that we all found these historical items of great interest.
Our next meeting will be at the home of Rol and Kathy Church outside of Wautoma. This will be 24-25 July at our annual Camp Schofield. The OP Order will be issued by our Treasurer Les Beam for this event. We hope to have a special guest join us at Camp Schofield that you will all enjoy meeting. He is one of us!! More will be forthcoming as we approach July. In the meantime, please schedule 24-25 July on your calendar to join us for Camp Schofield in Wautoma!!
See you then!!

The Drop
(C-73- 01-4Q2009) Chapter members pose a photo op. They marched in the Veteran’s Day Parade.
Chapter 73 held its winter business meeting in Green Bay Wisconsin. Before the business meeting, a few Chapter members took a tour of Lambeau Field, Home of the Green Bay Packers and the location of Operation LZ Lambeau in May. Operation LZ Lambeau is an event where Wisconsin will honor its military members and veterans. For more information go to www.LZLambeau.org.
During this meeting the Chapter elected new officers. Our new officers are President: John Gianos, Vice President: Bill Schafer, Secretary: Bobby Nixon and Treasurer: Les Beam. The Chapter’s webmaster, Jim Trimby, explained the new web page layout and the direction that the Chapter plans to take for the web page. Also, during the business meeting it was decided that the Chapter would donate money to the Freedom Flight and also make a donation to help a wounded SF soldier. The meeting ended with the newly elected officers being sworn into their elected positions.
After the business meeting it was time for the Chapter’s winter Dining In. This is a big event for Chapter 73. This Dining In is annually set to coincide with Valentine’s Day where the member bring out their finest or don their dress uniforms (or at least those of us who can still get into them). The ladies received Valentine Chocolates and potted flowers.
The Chapter would like to thank Tim MacGillis for his outstanding leadership as Chapter President and Gary Benz for his dedication and support while serving as the Chapter’s Secretary. The Chapter is looking forward to the leadership of John Gianos as he takes over as the Chapter’s President; we are not sure whether to say congratulations or condolences!
